Elegant Dingle Tours Founder: Ian Moriarty
Can you tell me a little about how Elegant Dingle Tours began and what inspired you to start offering private tours on the Dingle Peninsula?
Elegant Dingle Tours began in 2018. I was working for numerous tour companies, delivering both private and mixed tours.
I recognized areas where I could improve and deliver new, unique experiences for our visitors, so I decided to take the leap and branch out on my own.
As we say in Irish, “Bhí go maith is ní raibh go holc” – it was good and it wasn’t bad!
For visitors who may not be familiar, what makes the Dingle Peninsula such a unique and unforgettable part of Ireland to explore?
Dingle is a small fishing village with so much history to offer.
Apart from the stunning scenery and fantastic ambiance, there’s a story to be told around every corner.

Growing up on the Peninsula, I was lucky to hear the true-life stories of many “seanachaí” (storytellers), which I love to share when touring the length and breadth of Ireland.
What kinds of tours do you offer, and how do you tailor them to suit different travelers’ interests or schedules?

Every tour is different! I love to build tours with my guests, focusing on their specific interests.
I offer bespoke extended private tours, golf tours, and day tours from Dingle and Dublin.
What’s your favorite part of the peninsula to show guests — and why does it hold a special place for you?

Having been born and raised on the Peninsula, there isn’t one part I don’t love sharing with visitors. Each area holds something special.
You must meet visitors from all over the world. Is there a particular tour memory or guest experience that stands out in your mind?

One year, I had an extended family with me, touring Dublin, Cork, and Kerry for 10 days. They had saved for 15 years to visit the Emerald Isle. Three significant milestones were celebrated on Irish soil during their trip, and we made memories and friends for life.
Many travelers want to see “the real Ireland.” How do you help your guests experience the authentic side of Dingle beyond the typical tourist stops?

Being a native and growing up with many old traditions, I love sharing these authentic experiences with my guests.
Whether it’s Dingle or Dublin, Galway or Donegal, I have plenty of hidden gems that you won’t read about in typical tourist books.
The Dingle area is known for its warm hospitality and incredible scenery. How do you incorporate local culture, food, or traditions into your tours?

Ceol agus Craic! (Music and Fun!) Bia agus Deoch (Food and Drink!). I cover it all, from traditional music and Guinness to bacon and cabbage, brown soda bread, and Irish dancing.
From your perspective, when is the best time of year to visit Dingle?

There is never a bad time to visit Dingle, nor Ireland!
